Oct 5

In case anyone is wondering, I will be at my lovely and talented cousin's CD release party the evening of Oct 5. I will not be going to the pre-mindcamp soldout thingy, mostly because I am not really in the scene except in spirit these days. But bask in the talent of one of many talented bramhalls, no problem. You would do yourself right coming as well. Let me know if you decide to do so.

homework with heather

Had a fun day today with Heather Flanagan at our house. My dh was in fine form explaining the adventures of how our house, the Titanic, came to be. He did the voices and everything. Why oh why can't I get a recording?

Anyway, she had some tips on how to get started in the videoblog space. First nice thing to hear is I don't need a mac, I can just use plain old movie maker. Next is the camera and capturing is the least of my worries - then there is the editing piece. I could be completely spontaneous in the capture and then do the planning in the editing, or I can do the planning beforehand and be fairly scripted during the capture. Comes to the same thing, quality takes time.

Our kids, who met in Montana, are still best buds.

how much for that seat?

I was sifting through a friend of mine's blog posts. He took a break for a while, and with good reason. Then I realized he started a baseball blog. This made me remember a previous conversation we had which I will paraphrase:
Him: I started a baseball blog.
Me: Oh? Just like Walt?
Him: Who?
Me: Er, Walt Mossberg, the single most predictor of success or failure in the technology industry for since like freaking ever. Person with the most coveted "next to" seat on the plane. Person we most wish would start a technology blog, but that's too, you know, day job. YOU KNOW, GOD??
Him: Oh. Never heard of him.

And so it is - two people with baseball blogs, both who have never heard of each other, and neither of them with good reasons might I add.

er...

I am writing from the Solutions retreat at the Tolovana inn in Cannon Beach, OR. And I have a string of confessions to make. One is that my Solutions work has completely subsumed my blog work. I did not notice this before, but for some reason the activities fill the same need. Realistically I will not get back to daily blogging until I can integrate it better into my life, as it was, back in the "good old days" of daily posting.

The new job is great. Everything seems so much more equitable. I was scanning through my e-mail inbox for friends to invite to my son's birthday party, and was struck by how dramatic the year was. So may dramatic e-mails. So many things to make me cringe. I am not sure how to put it together except one issue at a time.

I would love to put a camera on my bike helmet and share my daily commute with you via video. However I have not made this purchase or done this configuration. It would be more of an art-piece than actual information. I think the rest of you would rather just be caught up. Just the facts.
